When you have confirmed the date and booked the Registrar, you will need to confirm your wedding with us and pay a deposit of £500. Failure to do this within 14 days of making the provisional booking may result in your booking being released.
You will need to give notice of marriage to the SR of the district you live in. This will then be displayed for a number of weeks in order to give people an opportunity to see your intentions to marry.
The fee for the attendance of the registration staff has been set by the Council and must be paid to the SR by the date set by them.
Without presence of the SR and a Registrar there can be no marriage and any arrangements for the use of the premises depend entirely on their availability. It is therefore essential that you make an advance booking with the SR for his/her attendance at the proposed marriage.
The content of your ceremony must meet the approval of the SR. Once agreed by the SR no alterations to the content of your ceremony can be made without new approval of the SR.
You are required to provide two witnesses at your wedding. Please make sure they make themselves known to the SR on the day.
Your appointment time is the time of the ceremony.
Please note you are required to be interviewed before the ceremony so please arrive at least 20 minutes before to allow for this.
Whilst every effort is made to abide by the start time of the ceremony, circumstances beyond our control could delay the start time of the ceremony.
